Toshihiro Arai

Career

1966

Born on December 25th. From Gunma Prefecture.
He made his rally debut while enrolled in the Faculty of Engineering at Gunma University.

1998

He competed in the JAF All Japan Rally Championship with a Subaru Impreza (GC8) for CUSCO Racing and won the overall series championship.

1999

He moved to Prodrive in the UK and began making occasional appearances in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) with a Group N specification Subaru Impreza.

2002

He officially joined the Subaru World Rally Team (SWRT), Subaru's factory team, and became a Subaru factory driver.
The highest WRC result was 4th place overall in Greece and Cyprus.

2001

In addition to Group N, he will also be taking the wheel of a WR car, the Subaru Impreza WRC, and will be making occasional appearances in the top category of the WRC.

2004

I entered the newly established FUA Production Car World Rally Championship (PWRC) with a Group N specification Subaru Impreza WRX STI.

2011

He established his own team, SUBARU TEAM ARAI, and won the FIA Production Car World Rally Championship (PWRC) series championship twice, in 2005 and 2007.

2014

He competed in the Eurosport-sponsored Intercontinental Rally Challenge with an R4-spec WRX STI and won the Production Cup championship.

From 2015

He returned to the JAF All Japan Rally Championship and won the overall series championship in 2015 and 2018.
